| Search Google by Default with Internet Explorer SUMMARY: With TweakUI for Windows 98, you have have Internet Explorer search AltaVista, HotBot, or Google by default. In Internet Explorer for Windows 98, when you type "? keywordstring," IE automatically puts those keywords into a search engine query. If you have a favorite search engine, why not make IE use that one instead of the default?
1. To change the default search engine, access the Tweak UI Control Panel applet (if you do not have it installed, read the tip elsewhere in MalekTips). 2. On the multi-tabbed dialog box that appears, click on the "General" tab. 3. Next to "Search engine:" on the bottom area of the window should be a pulldown. 4. Click the pulldown arrow and select your search engine, such as Google, AltaVista, or HotBot. 5. Press "OK" to close the dialog box.
