Windows 98 - TweakUI

Remove Uninstalled Software from Add/Remove Control Panel

SUMMARY: Deleted software but it won't go away from the Add/Remove Control Panel? TweakUI for Windows 98 comes to the rescue.

When you use the "Add/Remove Programs" Control Panel, do you sometimes see Windows 98 software that you know have already been uninstalled? Ghost entries may remain, but you can use TweakUI to remove them.

Make sure to perform this technique only on programs that you know have been previously uninstalled!

1. Access the Tweak UI Control Panel applet (if you do not have it installed, read the tip elsewhere in MalekTips).
2. On the multi-tabbed dialog box that appears, click on the "Add/Remove" tab (you may need to click on the arrows next to the tabs to cycle through the tabbed windows).
3. Now, click on the entries you wish to remove and press the "Remove" button.
4. Press "OK" to close the dialog box.
