Windows 98 - TweakUI

Auto Network Login

SUMMARY: Save time and automatically access a Windows 98 network with TweakUI.

Is your Windows 98 computer hooked to a network, but are you the only one with physical access to your machine? If so, and you feel everything is secure, you can have your computer automatically log into the network with your default username and password.

1. Access the Tweak UI Control Panel applet (if you do not have it installed, read the tip elsewhere in MalekTips).
2. On the multi-tabbed dialog box that appears, click on the "Network" tab (you may need to click on the arrows next to the tabs to cycle through the tabbed windows).
3. Check the "Log on automatically at system startup" checkbox.
4. Now, enter your user name and password where appropriate.
5. Click the "OK" button to close the dialog box.

Be SURE to read with TweakUI says about this technique! Although this tip may be convenient, it is a potential security risk as your password is stored in clear text.
